Prejudice

En route from Madrid to Manila, the plane that my friend and her family took had to make an emergency stop in Frankfurt because of engine trouble. They and the other passengers were given rooms at a hotel and cash to spend on meals and other necessities. And so some 15 passengers, half of which were Caucasian and half brown skinned (Filipino, Malaysian and Indonesian) trooped to the nearest restaurant still open.

Guess what. The Caucasians were allowed in. brown skinned ones were told that there was not enough food for them.

Prejudice is an ugly thing. Especially when you think about it a happening in a land where Hitler is the one person they are more ashamed of. But it exists. It continues to exist. It exists even among people of the same race and works especially against those who are less fortunate, less educated, less talented.
